Second commission

Post by Rambo on Sat Apr 18, 2015 1:01 pm

Ok guys, our first venture was a success. A little step for the customizer but a big step for the hobby.
I can't wait to have my order and start using the parts.

I think it is time to discuss our second venture. We have 30 bucks saved for whatever we commission from Krexx.
I'd like to have the unproduced Rocky to be made, a head, torso and waist kit. I want to hear your thoughts.

Here is are the ideas so far, in 3 categories:
FIGURE KITS

  1. 3/2-piece suit torso and waist
  2. Rocky: Head, torso and waist
  3. Mutated Cobra Commander: Head, torso, waist and lower legs
  4. Krake: Head, torso and waist
  5. Modified Viper helmet with tactical vest: Head, torso and waist
  6. Female Crimson Guard: Head, torso and waist
  7. Military officer torso and waist
  8. MR. T head and torso
  9. Generic male tactical vest torso
  10. Bare male torso

HEAD MULTIPACKS

  1. "Unhelmeted" Joes head set (Torpedo, Airtight, Barbecue, etc; number to be determined)
  2. Female head set: Cover Girl, Cadet Demming, Zanya
  3. "Updated" female head set: Scarlett, Lady Jaye and Cover Girl
  4. Mercenary/Rebel heads 1, 2 & 3

HEADS

  1. Stalker head sculpt
  2. Cool Breeze head
  3. Billy head (why was this crossed out?) Because we should not pay again for something already paid.
  4. Michael Dudikoff head sculpt (from "American Ninja")
  5. Steve James head sculpt (from "American Ninja")
  6. Dreadhead troop head
  7. COIL trooper helmeted head
  8. Toxo-Viper helmeted head
  9. "Updated" HISS Driver head
  10. Sculpts that AF has hanging around

Id like to see a ball-neck Dreadhead troop head. Or at least a good helmet to cover up the convention ones

I'm still considering what we can make that 1) I can actually use and 2) might appeal to a larger market. But one unexpected success of the first project was offering a figure/torso combo and a single army builder head. That way, even if someone didn't want the project figure, they might still go in on the head.

I remember cyko wanted a 4 head combo. And I wanted a 3 piece suit Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Yeah, I still think an "Unhelmeted" head set would be popular: Torpedo, Airtight, Barbecue and... Mainframe? I can't remember.

The Joe Club FSS is getting buzz with Pythona and Billy, but I've got such a bad memory of those O-rings disappearing that I can't bother. But it could be marketable.

A generic suit torso & waist would be pretty useful, though I can't say it's #1 on my list of figures to make. I'd like a torso to avoid using Muskrat's ever again, but that's not a very flashy product to market: "generic male vest torso, and it's not Muskrat's"

These are some good ideas however I'm still partial to the mutated Cobra Commander.  The now defunct mobile game, GiJoe Battleground, had a really cool looking CC that I would love to have as an o-ring figure.

I could see a head/torso/waist combo with maybe the lower legs?  The head/torso part however I think may look better as a ball and socket due to the serpent neck but otherwise I think it would look great as an o-ring figure.  The arms and upper legs could be modded easily enough. I know there isn't much love for Cobra-La but I tend to love CC in all forms and have tried to collect as many o-ring versions as possible.

Otherwise, I do like the generic suit idea as well as going trying to do a combo as well as an individual army builder head.  Hell, I'd even be up for heads that redo some of the more ugly ones that were originally released by Hasbro.  Nemesis Enforcer or Serpentor anyone?

Finally, I'm still partial to the Pythona even though I agree with Cyko on the asshurt that fiasco caused.

I think Mutant CC would be viable with just a head-torso setup. Utilize the Comic Pack Cobra Commander body

If you HAVE to do legs, Id say do the lower ones. With standard GI Joe peg holes in the feet

I'm all for unhelmeted heads for Torpedo, Airtight, Barbecue and Wetsuit, done in the style of the old cartoon.

Having a good 3 piece suit would be really cool also...

The non-helmet version of the previously mentioned characters would be cool too. Or:

Krake (head plus torso):

Modified Viper helmet with tactical vest:

Toxo-Viper helmet:

Dudikofrf would have been my choice to play Snake-Eyes if a movie was made in the 80s

A COIL trooper head that looked helmeted would be nice. The current Convention head is a bit bland. Or at least a helmet to go over it

Wow! I could get behind a modern Stalker head! Something more detailed than the v1 and more proportional than the comic pack. He could even be in the "Unhelmeted" set if we did it without a permanent beret (like the Club's recent TF Stalker).

Joe Colton head with beard as seen in the Marvel comics.
Billy head
Cool Breeze
Terminator-esque BATs from later Marvel comics
blonde, long haired Cover Girl head from Mass Device
Female Conquest pilot (seen in Not a Ghost of a Chance)
Cobra female sub captain (seen in Not a Ghost of a Chance)
officer torso and waist (could be used with Colonel Sharp, General Flagg, etc)
cartoon Daina
female Crimson Guard / Cadet Demming (There's No Place Like Springfield)
Night Creeper Leader head (DIC cartoon)
Zanya
Firewall
Dr Knox
I could go on, especially with Devil's Due characters...

Sorry, I know there are bad memories associated with a few of these, but really, they are some of the most wanted figures that have never been produced.

My top preferences from my list:
Billy head
Cool Breeze
officer torso and waist --- I can see a lot of use for this one

Heck, Cover Girl, Cadet Demming, and the female sub captain heads could get a lot of use with other females as well.

How about better head sculpts for the original Scarlett, Lady Jaye and Cover Girl?

What about those sculpts that AF has hanging around that were mentioned earlier? Any word yet as to what those include? Could be something in there worth voting on.

It'd be even better if Cool Breeze was in that set!

1) Guys, let's every one of us PM Joe Colton asking for an official answer about the o-ring parts they said they have stored.

2) How would you like to make the decision about what piece(s) are we going to commission? A poll like the last time, Admins decision, a session group, chat....

I wanna hear you. And please send Joe Colton a PM.
