ASP Gunner

Post by forcefull1 on Sat Jul 09, 2016 11:46 am

As I've been working with the P:ARAH casts and the new Krexx sculpts I've realized that what was missing from my customs of late, and causing a severe lack of motivation to customize, has been new parts.
This figure came about because I realized one can effectively create a new head by slapping one of the common accessory pack helmets, or indeed many other helmets, onto a masked Cobra head.  This is made easier by the prevalence of Black Major's Decimator heads, which conveniently come in swivel- and ball-joint varieties.
So, once I had the head figured out, I just started tossing other pieces into the mix.  I used Corps! parts for the first time, again to inject some new blood into the parts selection, and because their basic sculpting matches the '82-'84 parts.
Once the figure was planned, I had to figure out who he was.  So, there was no ASP Gunner in the original line?  Boom.  Done.

Head: Black Major Decimator
Torso: Zap
Arms: Thunder
Waist and Legs: Corps!
Helmet: Airborne
Gun: MOTH Chuckles

Model Masters French Blue
Craft Smart Black
Craft Smart Medium Brown
Testors Gloss Red Acrylic

I love it! This guy could be expanded into a general Cobra gunner for any vehicle. I'd be tempted to paint the helmet blue to match the regular Troopers more, but he's awesome!

Excellent work! I use Testors French Blue as a stand in for Cobra Blue as well.
