A light colored theme (black font) for the forum?

Post by CoolBreeze on Thu Feb 25, 2016 10:58 pm

The dark background and dark type is playing havoc with my laptop. Is is possible to install a lighter background template for the forum?

Some forums have the ability for users to select a theme, but I don't see a setting here that allows that. It would be up to Rambo to choose a new theme color for the site.

I was curious about this, so I registered a test forum at Forumotion, which hosts your PHPBB forum software (version 3). I guess Rambo used another site that translates it from English to another language since "BestForo.com" is identical to Forumotion.

I am somewhat familiar with these free hosting forums and it might be that only the founding member (Rambo?) has the access you need.

Having set up a test forum myself I logged in as an admin, then in the administrative panel, at the top tab is says "display". If you go there, you can either add a new skin, change the forum font color (white?) and I'm guessing also allow users access to choose their own theme/skin if they prefer another one.

If you want to check out the test freebie forum you can register here: http://arahgijoe.forummotion.com

I'll give you admin access and you can play around with it.

I will gladly take it down at any time. It's just to test the features. Smile

I've poked through that Display panel a few times, but I haven't found a toggle setting that allows users to select their own theme. It might be a paid feature? The old Slayer site had that ability, it was a menu box at the bottom (like this forum has a "Jump to:" menu selection), but he was paying for that site. Albeit with our money. Very Happy

I don't see any problem with the current "display". Black background. White or orange letters.

Maybe it's just me then. Maybe it's others too. I feel it's better to accommodate all, especially when it's free.
